there's a suspension spring, that one of the coils is de-axed. for example, if ID of all of the coils is 10mm, the ID of this special coil is 12mm.
what do you name this phenomenon, is somebody have such experience?

Hello there,

I have looked all over the Internet, in WAI ferrous books, in spring glossaries and in in metallurgical reference books but I can find no reference or definition for the term de-axed. Could you please provide us with a proper definition for this term or conversely give us a drawing, a proper explanation or an alternate definition.

Your drawing seems to show a standard compression spring with the end coils ground flat. Likewise the end coil inside diameters are 12 mm and the middle coil inside diameters are 10 mm. Perhaps it has something to do with fairly crude or old manufacturing processes.

Thank you.
