Laps

1) Folds of metal due to over-filling of any given rod rolling pass which are folded over and rolled in on entry into the next pass. The lap becomes apparent in the finished rod after further cold working or when standard metallurgical tests are carried out. 2) Turns of wire round a capstan or block.
