Coating Wirework

An antique bronze finish can be obtained on coppered mild steel wire by cold dipping in a steel bronze solution. This produces a chocolate surface color, which can be relieved by scratch brushing and finally protected by a clear lacquer. Plain brass or copper wirework should first be cleaned by dipping in nitric acid. After cleaning the mesh should be either cold or hot lacquered.
