Bauxite

The principal ore of aluminum. About 4 kg are needed to produce 1 kg of aluminum. It is a constituent of nearly all earthly materials and is unavoidably present in most slags. Bauxite is also used in the manufacture of alumina refractories for withstanding extremely high temperatures.
